Duomo Di Milano

Duomo is the city’s pulse. It’s the heart of Milan where locals and tourists meet.

MILAN, ITALY: MY FASHION-FORWARD HOME AWAY FROM HOME

June 01, 2025 in Food, Travel, Fashion, Italy, Lifestyle

I’ve been traveling to Milan, Italy for work and leisure, every time I return, it’s like slipping into something familiar. Milan is where my modeling journey grew vision- it’s where I started to feel my power not just in front of the camera, but in the quiet, off-duty moments too. I’m so excited to return as It’s one of those cities that feels like it sees you, evolves with you, and always has something new to offer. Between castings, shopping, food adventures, and slow strolls past the Duomo or Navigli—this place holds so much beauty.

Whether you’re here for work, food indulging, shopping, exploring, or simply chasing a feeling, Milan is the kind of city that wraps you in charm. Here’s my personal edit on how to experience it like a model who’s been around the cobblestones (literally).

🎒 My Milan Must-Haves

  • Trench coat or light jacket for breezy evenings

  • A solid pair of sneakers or comfortable sandals (you’ll walk a lot)

  • A spacious XL tote bag to carry all your essentials for the day

  • Sunglasses that double as a statement

  • Wise and/or Capital one 360 card.

  • Travel-sized espresso shots (kidding) I’m a matcha girl lol.

✨ Pro Tips for First-Timers

  • Transportation: Milan is small and walkable, but if you’re bouncing between castings, restaurants or cafés, grab a day metro pass or use taxis through FreeNow. Uber exists but it isn’t the move here. I also love the city bikes and I truly believe it’s the best way to explore on the go.

  • Seasons to Visit: I’ve been to Milan through all the seasons and I honestly equally love them all. Spring and fall are elite. April–May and September–October give you that effortless breeze, shorter attraction wait times, softer touristy crowds, and still-gorgeous light for photos. Summer is HOT-literally and packed, but the energy is unmatched if you’re here for fashion week. People go to the seaside during the month of August because Milan is unbearably HOT.

  • Hair + Style: This time around for work I’m rocking my natural 4B texture and loving every minute of it. If you read my blog about choosing my hair back you’ll understand there’s power in showing up as I am-coils, crown. and all. Braids are always convenient option too (especially for longer trips.) I recommend Black & White Di Ambes Negga in Porta Venezia. Milanese style on the other hand is sleek and minimal. You won’t see people in graphic tops, crocs, flip flops or baggy pants. Think tailored, crisp button-downs and statement-worthy pieces and accessories.

  • Apps: I recommend downloading ATM Milano for public transport (metro, tram, bus). You can also buy your ticket directly in the app- no more fumbling at machines. For getting around quickly, FreeNow and for eating, Glovo for those late-night cravings, groceries, or anything you don’t feel like leaving your apartment to get. Glovo is basically Milan’s delivery bestie- like how we love Uber and InstaCart in America.

🍝 Where to Eat (and Feel Something)

Milan’s food scene is chef’s kiss. Eating in Europe for me feels healthier and cleaner, even if I am having pasta five times a week! Milan cuisine is very Traditional, elevated, and full of surprises. These are my forever favorite spots:

  1. Osteria Memá
A cozy, rustic gem. The pasta is flavorful and unpretentious—the kind of meal you think about days later.

  2. Luini
Iconic Milanese panzerotti spot near the Duomo. Grab one and sit on the steps—it’s a local rite of passage.

  3. Osteria de Fortunata
Pasta made by hand, right in front of you. The vibes are intimate and it feels like a family affair. Get the carbonara, immediately. Don’t question it.

  4. Osteria Serafina
Perfect for dinner with a soft, romantic glow. Pair the vibe with a glass of red wine.

  5. Gelateria La Romana
One word: divine. The gelato is rich and layered—just like Milan itself.

  6. California Bakery
If you’re craving an American-style brunch or a light lunch between jobs, this is the comfort zone. Their pancakes are AMAZING!

  7. Giannasi 1967

A true Milanese staple. It’s budget friendly, fast and always packed with locals. They serve perfectly seasoned chicken and crispy potatoes. They also have corn, grilled vegetables and pasta. So good!

  8. BaoBab

Delicious African cuisine- and in my opinion, the best in Milan.

9. Katsusanderia
This spot is all about Japanese street-style comfort food. Their katsu sandos are the main event—crispy, juicy, and stacked just right. Also check out the izakaya vibes at their Mercato Isola location. A chill, flavorful reset.

10. Mosobna Milano
A hidden gem bringing East African soul to Milan. Think warm spices, injera, stews, and unforgettable hospitality. The kind of place that feeds both stomach and spirit.

11. Tenoha & Ramen
Japanese minimalism meets cozy noodle shop. The interiors are aesthetic, the ramen is rich, and the vibes are very “Tokyo in Milan.”

12. Ramen Shifu Milano
Casual and consistently good. The tonkotsu broth is a standout, and the menu is stacked with options for every craving. Perfect for solo nights or laid-back dinners.

13. Flower Burger

Vegan burgers that don’t play it safe. Think rainbow buns, bold flavors, and a plant-based twist on fast food fun. It’s quirky, colorful, and surprisingly satisfying — perfect for when you’re craving something casual but creative.

FOODIE VIBES

Because sometimes the only itinerary you need is pasta, wine, and a view that melts your stress away.

🛍 Where to Shop (and Stunt)

You know I live for a good find. Shopping for vintage luxury pieces is heaven in Milan. Milan is the place to blend designer with vintage and make it you. Don’t forget to claim VAT refund.

My top two:

  • DMAG
Designer pieces at outlet prices. A gold mine for fashion girls.

  • Humana Vintage
Your go-to for that one-of-a-kind oversized blazer or perfect denim. Affordable, ethical, and full of gems.

🧾 How to Claim Your VAT Refund in Milan:

  1. Ask for a Tax-Free Form at the store (bring your passport!).

  2. Keep your receipts and the filled-out forms.

  3. Keep the tags of the item. Don’t throw them away.

  4. At the airport, go to Customs before check-in. I would recommend arriving early at the airport to do this.

  5. Get your form stamped by Customs with your item in hand.

  6. Head to the refund desk (like Global Blue or Planet) or drop the form in their mailbox.

💡 Tip: The refund can be in cash (with a fee) or sent to your card.

Liberty of Tree Park in Porta Nuova district, one of Milan’s most modern and iconic areas. The building in the background is the Bosco Verticale, a world-famous residential. tower covered in greenery. It’s giving eco-luxury.

🌿 Where to Unwind (Soft Life Required)

Model life moves fast here, but I always carve out time for quiet and reflection. These are my reset buttons:

    •    Parco Sempione

Next to the Sforza Castle. It’s romantic, tree-lined, and perfect for journaling, walking, or just existing.

    •    City Life Park (Parco Tre Torri)

A bit more modern and spacious, with clean lines and skyline views. Think: minimalist picnic energy.

    •    Liberty of Tree Park (BAM – Biblioteca degli Alberi Milano)

Located in Porta Nuova, one of Milan’s most modern districts, this park is the definition of green tranquility, With the Bosco Verticale towering in the background, it’s giving eco-luxury. It’s where I go to feel grounded—boots in the grass, mind on pause

  • Naviglio Grande

The most famous canal in. Milan. and one of the oldest, today. it’s a scenic spot lined with restaurants, bars, boutiques, and art spaces-ideal for leisurey stroll or apreitivo by. the water.

  • QC Termemilano

When your soft life needs a full-on spa day. This wellness retreat in Porta Romana is built inside ancient walls, and it’s giving steamy outdoor pools, candlelit saunas, and the iconic “storm room” where you literally relax under simulated rain. It’s a Milanese must for unwinding, unplugging, and emerging like new. I love coming here!

I’m signed with Boom Models, and working in Milan has introduced me to so many talented, kind, and driven creatives. From long shoot days to casting marathons, every job teaches me something new. Milan taught me how to walk into a room with intention and leave with impact.

Being back feels like growth. It feels like alignment. I’m excited to be here again, working, expanding, and soaking in everything this city has to offer.
