MENTAL HEALTH

Most days, I’m full of energy and feeling upbeat, but just like everyone else, I have those occasional “I’m not feeling my best today.” When they come, I remind myself it’s my choice to shift my mindset—to find the beauty and the good in each moment, no matter how small. You can cry while things are going well, too. This releases old energy and makes room for the new. Life is full of ups and downs: the good times pass, and so do the tough ones. It’s all about staying prepared to face both.

That’s why I started this blog—to share my thoughts, answer your questions, and be that supportive friend you might need. So, here I am, just me, Augustah Allen, here for you.

My Main Tools to lift my spirits are the following:

  • GOD,

    Romans 8:18 Mark 9:23

    Proverbs 29:25 Matthew 17:20 Matthew 6:34 Joshua 1:3

Read the Bible, Pray and continue to put the Lord first in all you do

  • Journaling, I started Journaling in 2023 after experiencing major hardship and mental blurs, and since then, it has become an invaluable tool for expressing my thoughts and feeling day-to-day. I consider journaling to be my stress reliever; rereading what I’ve written provides me with great clarity on my self awareness and personal growth. I purchased the Intelligent Change Five Minute Journal, in this journal you’ll be encouraged to dedicate five minutes of your day jot down what you’re grateful for, what would make your day great, daily affirmations, highlights of the day and lessons you learned. While you connect with yourself you’ll achieve inner peace and resilience, offering a pathway to understanding yourself better and finding relief during challenging times.

  • Music, Music can be a powerful tool that can offer a sense of comfort, connection and emotional release. I like to curate playlist for myself based on my many different moods that can provide an escape from adulting. Music has always had its unique way of helping me process my emotions and find peace. In the moments of struggle or whatever is going on in our lives, the right song can feel like a friend, reminding us we’re not alone and helping us heal.

  • Breathing Exercise, Once I started breathing exercises I never looked back because it’s my moment of peace. I do breathing exercises for five minutes when I’m feeling overwhelmed or my anxiety is on high. By focusing on your breath you automatically activate your body into relaxation mode. These exercises help regulate your heart rate, lower blood pressure and promote clarity and calmness within you. Download the app Breathing Zone.

  • Therapy, I didn’t start therapy until I was twenty-six and it has been refreshing to talk to a trained professional, exploring my thoughts, behaviors, feelings and getting questions answered. Therapy isn’t just for those in crisis-I believe it’s a valuable tool for everyone to achieve their own personal growth and live a healthier and happier life. The resource that I used to find a therapist is Open Path.

As I wrap up my discussion on mental health and beneficial tools, I want to emphasize the importance of living in the present moment. Dwelling on the past can lead to sadness, while constantly worrying about the future fuels anxiety. The present is the only time we truly have, and it’s where happiness resides. Don’t let the fleeting moments of joy pass you by—embrace the now. Take a deep breath, cherish this moment, and remember that it’s never too late to find peace and fulfillment in your daily life. As I said, here I am, just me, Augustah Allen, here for you.
