Mykonos, Greece has been on my list of places I would want to travel to. I mean, it’s the ultimate destination for luxury travel, beaches, culture, and unforgettable food! Mykonos isn’t just an island but an experience & based on my recent adventure (you may have caught a glimpse on my Instagram), here’s a quick guide to soaking in the best of this Greek island paradise. <3
Pro Tips for First-Timers
• Transportation: Rent an ATV or motorbike for easy exploration of the island. Taxis can be pricey and scarce charging €40 per ride/ $45-50 no matter where you are on the island.
• Timing: The high season is July-August if you want to experience the energy of the island during the party season. If you want fewer crowds but the same magical energy visit during shoulder seasons (May-June or September) I went end of September going into October and it was the best decisions (Sept 22-October 6th), it’s the slow season so it’s not crowded with tourist and it was very easy to get a reservations at major hot spots.
• Stay Stylish: For my Black growls; Get dem braids, secure em! I loved my braids going to Mykonos, I got half boho knotless/half cornrows done by Touched By Ishie LLC in New York. Definitely shop for clothing that’s breathable because Mykonos is Hot. When in Mykonos, channel effortless chic! Flowing dresses, swimwear with bold cuts (shoutout to Revolve and Goldie Swimwear), and statement accessories are all you need. Don’t forget to bring a light, neutral cover-up for those breezy seaside evenings. Check out all my looks from my Greece trip—> here. I stayed at Yi Hotel which offers a luxurious stay that blend beautifully with the island’s aesthetic.
Where to Eat: A Culinary Journey through Mykonos
Mykonos is haven for food lovers, with restaurants that combine local flavors and international flair. Here’s my top picks:
!!THEE BEST!! greek traditional restaurant in Mykonos that’s only open during the day. Imagine grilled seafood, fresh salads, and authentic Greek hospitality. You’ll get your moneys worth & it’s inexpensive. KiKi’s Tavern is hidden away near Agios Sostis Beach, this no-reservations spot is worth the wait. You are given an ice cold rosé as you wait by the owner. The owner speaks over seven languages & I thought that was super impressive. The stunning views? Just the cherry on top. I love KIKi’s
Pro Tip: Arrive early to avoid the long wait as they only have 9 tables.
Pricey but Perfect for a glamorous evening. Sip on cocktails while watching the sunset, and enjoy Mediterranean dishes with a modern twist, enjoy their beach club and dance all night as they bring in different Sunset DJ’s & performances from around the world every day. It’s a Mykonos vibe you won’t forget.
Pro Tip: Making reservations before you arrive to Mykonos if you plan to go during the high season. Sunset hour is when the party kicks off.
Nestled in the heart of Mykonos Town, this spot is known for its traditional Greek dishes like moussaka and grilled octopus. A must for anyone craving a taste of the local culture. I didn’t reserve a table but just walked in & got lucky. It wasn’t too busy during the time I went which was around 3:00pm ish. The views are amazing, especially of the windmills! Highly suggest adding this restaurant to your list.
4. Zuma Myknos
This place is expensive but the views are breathtaking. You can see the whole Aeagan views, this open-air Japanese Izakaya delivers a chic dining experience. Arrive early to sip a cocktail before diving into the menu so you can enjoy the sunset! The Miso Con and Wagyu Beef Tataki? A whole mood.
Pro Tip: Making reservations before you arrive to Mykonos if you plan to go during the high season. It’s best to make reservations before sunset to get the best experience.
What to Do: From Beach Clubs to Hidden Gems
From shopping, eating, a lazy beach day, chilling by the pool at your hotel to historic adventures, Mykonos has something for everyone, here’s how I made the most of my trip:
1. Wander Through Little Venice
The charming whitewashed buildings, colorful balconies, and seaside views make for the ultimate photo ops. Go early in the morning to beat the crowds and capture that serene beauty. There’s so many boutique shops and restaurants near the water front. I could not get enough of exploring at all.
2. Experience Nammos and 180 Sunset Bar
Start your day at Nammos which is the ultimate beach club on Psarou Beach. I enjoyed lounging and enjoying the views of the huge yachts. They also have luxury shops like Saint Laurent, Dior, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Bottega to name a few if you would like to splurge. When evening rolls in check out 180 Sunset bar where literally the sunset paints the sky for panoramic views of Mykonos town and the Aegean Sea while sipping cocktails.
3. Enjoy a Luxury Catamaran experience with Mant Yachting
Explore the hidden gems of Mykonos with an Aqua Cruise to Rineia and Delos, an unforgettable yacht experience by Mant Yachting. Dive into the crystal-clear waters of Rineia’s secluded beaches, perfect for swimming and sunbathing away from the crowds. With luxury amenities and breathtaking Aegean views, this cruise combines relaxation, adventure, and a touch of history for the ultimate Mykonos escape. I had an amazing time and I totally suggest using their Iaqua Dive Scooter, I felt like little mermaid.
What to Wear: Effortless Island Chic
As you seen on my social media, Mykonos is all about chic and effortless style. Think breezy fabrics, flowing dresses, and bold swimsuits. Here's how to dress for a day and night on the island:
Daytime: Light shirts, a hat & oversized sunglasses. Pair with a flowing maxi dress, pants or tailored shorts for ultimate comfort that’s perfect for daytime exploration
