If you scroll through my social media or website, it might look like I’m a natural in front of the camera but, trust me, the confidence thing has been a journey! Let’s be real- Posing doesn’t come naturally for most of us. I used to overthink every pose and feel super awkward. But, over time I realized it’s not about looking perfect but it’s about having fun, being yourself and feeling comfortable.
So for my fellow models, creators and anyone looking to boost their confidence, here’s a few things that helped me:
1. Start with Self-Love
Before you can feel comfortable in front of the camera, it starts with how you feel off-camera. For a long time, I’d look at images and nitpick every little detail. Eventually, I realized that my uniqueness is what makes me, well me! Confidence starts with accepting who you are—every feature, every angle, every beauty mark. So for your own sanity please continue to remind yourself: what makes you different is what makes you beautiful. This mindset shift can be super transformative.
Tip: Create a list of things you love about yourself and revisit it whenever you need a confidence boost.
2. Find Your Angles and Poses
Learning what angles and poses work best for you will be game-changer. An unstoppable person is one who knows their angles, honey! Use a mirror to discover what works for you- standing up straight can make a world of a difference. Some poses highlight my favorite features, while others capture a different side of my personality. Experimenting in front of a mirror has helped me develop a natural flow that feels effortless and true to me . When I get in front of a photographer, it’s go time and it’s giving supermodel.
Tip: Curate a playlist of your favorite songs to play during shoots. It helps you get into the zone and slay with hitting your angles!
3. Embrace Imperfections
Put that retouch and face-tune app down and fall in love with yourself. TRUST, I know it works wonders but perfection is overrated, and pursuing it can hold you back. Some of my favorite photos are the ones that capture genuine moments—whether it’s a laugh, a candid expression, or a little flaw. Embracing these moments reminds me that authenticity is far more relatable than perfection.
Challenge: Post a photo without any filters for today (;
4. Allow Yourself to Be Vulnerable
Sharing photos that feel raw or risky —whether it’s a close-up or a candid shot or some skin—was intimidating at first. But allowing myself to experiment, be vulnerable and saying positive lines to myself in my head like for example-“you’re sexy , out of this world beautiful and there’s no one like you” has helped me maintain my confidence during a shoot. Find a photographer who’s professional and makes you feel comfortable; communication is key. Always discuss the artistic vision and make sure there’s open clear communication between you. Being real connects us, and that openness has become a source of strength.
5. Celebrate Your Growth
Finding confidence in front of the camera is a gradual process, but each small step adds up and becomes a win. Embrace your uniqueness, let go of the idea of perfection, you’re doing too much and just enjoy creating. When I look back at my work with photographers over the years or content I shot of myself, I see more than photos; I see me, the growth and the art. With more experience, I feel at ease. I remind myself of how much fun I had as I was just being myself. Confidence isn’t about reaching a final destination It’s a journey, and every shot you take represents a step forward. The more you embrace each stage, let lose-the more satisifed you’ll feel in who you are,
If there’s one thing I hope my blog today conveys, it’s this:
“Confidence is for everyone, and it starts with accepting and celebrating the person you already are and let that speak through the images you create.”
